It's snowing there right now? That is crazy. I miss the snow. It is so hot here. I am in a car area now, so we have air conditioning, but we still walk a lot.
I really like my new area. We are able to get so much done, and always keep busy. We are teaching a good number of cool people here right now. None of them are really far in the lessons yet. Apparently before Elder Vallejo and I were in this area, the car wasn't working, and the missionary who's spot we took, doesn’t like physical activity and refused to bike, so they had to walk everywhere and couldn't see a lot of their investigators which meant we had to start pretty much from scratch. I like starting from scratch. The missionary that left this area went to Greenwood, so now he is in a biking area. Hopefully he will learn to like biking fast. Especially because Elder McBeth can bike quickly. The last two weeks in Greenwood we never biked slower than 15 mph.
In this mission, after we recite the first vision, we do something called the KaKonkie method. The name comes from a mix between President McConkie and a previous mission president. At one point in this method we are supposed to invite the investigator to kneel down with us and say a prayer to ask if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Sometimes when we do this, they get confused and think we are going to say the prayer and so none of us are talking and it gets awkward. Anyway, last week we were teaching someone named Esperanza. And it appeared that this was happening. We were all there in silence. I was about to re-explain that we wanted her to pray, but the spirit prompted me to wait. After about fifteen minutes her eyes started tearing up, and she looked up at us. We asked her how she felt and she said she knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet. She seemed a little hesitant about Baptism because she didn't know if her husband would be alright with that, but we told her we would talk to him, and we asked her to talk to him about the things we taught and the way she felt. I am excited to teach them again, because she has already received that confirmation that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God.
My Spanish is to the point were people are always asking me were I learned Spanish, Then when I say I learned it talking with the people over the past eight months, They seem surprised and tell me my accent is really good. I had one person ask me if I was from Mexico. I thought my strawberry blond hair was a dead giveaway, but I guess not.
I love you all.
