I've really enjoyed myself this week and am glad I am here. I love my new area and my new apartment. It's one room, with a little portable gas stove and sink. I should have taken a picture of the bathroom....I will have to today. It's one of the nicest bathrooms as well, you will be surprised. Most people have something of a cement port-a-potty. They use old newspapers and school papers for toilet paper. Think about how blessed you are next time you take a shower or use the restroom (they shower in big buckets here, starting with the oldest and going down to the baby...if they shower. I have learned so much and come to be so meek and dependant on the Lord. It has been good for me and I am grateful for all the things I am learning. It is true, with the eternal perspective, this is only for my benefit. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here learning these things.
We are eating a lot of vegetables and fruits, lots. And I love it!!!!
I am looking forward to receiving the packages a lot. I am sorry they have been difficult to get here, but I am sure the CCM will manage to get it here...or is it in the MTC in Provo? Either way, it will arrive, I believe.
I want you to know there are some very good families here that are also watching out for us. We live with the Stake President and his family. One morning when I was not feeling well, my companion wanted to talk to Sister Loty, the Stake Presidents wife. We knocked on her door and she understood exactly how I was feeling.. They gave me a little bit to drink and then ordered me to take a warm bath and just relax. That actually helped a lot. And it was quite a treat. Showers hardly exist here, not to mention baths! My companion was shocked and jealous. I was just humbly grateful.
I do no feel abandoned by the Lord, in fact I feel his love and presence more then ever. He is constantly by my side telling me that He will not give me more then I can handle, and that because of the Atonement of Christ, everything is going to be okay
