I am way excited to be able to tell people I am 20 now. People still get surprised when I say 19. At the beginning of my mission people usually guessed I was 14. Now they normally guess 15. Contacting people here is kind of interesting. There are not very many Hispanics here, so you talk to the same ones every week, probably more like twice a week. Usually when we ask if we can come in, they ask us to come by another day. It is rare for them not to tell us to come back. Every now and then they invite us in, even though they didn't the time before. I'm getting to know a lot of them in this area already. This area has just a couple Hispanics, so it is hard to get in to teach people. Also on top of that, Elder Dunn still is not 100% after is bike crash. He just stopped taking his medicine, so he is in pain a lot. We usually have to take brakes for him to make it through the day. His head just looks like a bad sun burn now, in stead of road rash.
Every day, I realize the importance of missionary work more and more. Just like Hermana Finch said, this work is useless without members. In Provo Missionary work would be impossible without members. Knocking doors in Provo would get to nowhere. The missionaries there are always going to see Members’ friends and stuff. If you have any nonmember friends you can invite them, and the missionaries over for dinner and the missionaries will love you.
My companions and roommates are so cool. Elder Fulmer and I went on an exchange yesterday again because his companion has arthritis in the knee, and it is acting up right now. This morning Elder Dunn, Elder Fulmer and I got in a huge tickle fight. Elder Fulmer is more ticklish than possibly anyone in our family. Elder Dunn is only ticklish on his feet. He is a bigger guy, so he tried to hold one of us down and staredt tickling us, but then the other ran around and tickled his feet. It was way fun.
I know that this is the right time for me to serve a mission. I know that I am guided by the spirit every day. I know that when I was set apart, I was given power. I was given the ability to do this work. I wish I could be a full time missionary my whole life, with vacations so I could go home and see my family.
I love you all, and am thankful for all your prayers e-mails packages and love
Elder Finch
