Growing in Guatemala

This week has been great (despite the intense stomach pain.  I feel better. My body's tired, but it's healing quickly. It's an interesting experience. I just knelt in prayer and cried that night telling Heavenly Father that I was putting my health in His hands. I told President that I think health is one of the hardest trials. It something that affects everything. It's hard to be on a mission where you can do relatively nothing about it. I only eat fruits and vegetables for breakfast and dinner. The members feed us lunch. I exercise every morning and I'm getting eight hours of sleep. But, I'm not going to worry about it. I really have just put it in the Lord's hands and I know He will take care of me. I know in the future, when I am sick or those around me, I will look back on this experience and the things I am learning and know more how to act with compassion. Health is important. I am also learning how to keep working through illnesses. Ha, the common cold will never keep me from working again. We are really busy. Really busy. Which is great, it makes the time pass faster and more enjoyably. I am so grateful for all of the things I am learning here on the mission. I know this short experience is going to bless my life so much. Every day I learn something new that I know is going to help me forever.
My companion and I get along well. We really are going to be great friends…but it is taking a little bit of work. We had a companionship inventory that put me in tears and made her frustrated. Fortunately we haven’t ever not liked each other, we’ve just had to learn to work together. We then both fasted for Heavenly Father’s help, starting right after the inventory. We didn’t tell each other we were going to fast, but we both did. Everything has been smooth since then.
She has a strong personality and likes to tell people (or her companion) when something needs to be improved. I’ve learned to really just appreciate that as an opportunity to learn and grow. I think when someone has an accent and the language is new, it sometimes gives the impression that they aren’t very smart. I’m going to be really careful to look past things like that.
The work is going great. We have a baptism next week and lots of great investigators.

I am so grateful for this opportunity and know this is what I am supposed to be doing. I witness miracles daily. I know God hears and answers our prayers. I am at peace and really enjoying my mission. It’s such a blessing to be here.
