Knocking on Every Spanish Door in our Area (Daniel)

Last week was a really cool week. We found some really cool investigators. I will talk about it more in a minute. We have pretty much run out of miles for our car this month, so we get to do a lot of biking till October. (Happy face.)

I e-mail the family from the library. On holidays when the library is closed, I can’t send an e-mail until the next day. Money is tight, but I am learning to spend less. I’ve noticed that when I feel stress I tend to spend more than I should, but I am working on that and also I am not under so much stress anymore. However, this week I spent some money from my account at home which I think is completely drained now. I broke my bike a little and had to buy some replacement parts, and also I bought a small present for myself to celebrate my 1 year mark. (Guilty smile) I bought myself some raspberries, a tie and a goofy pajama shirt. I am so excited that you are over-nighting your homemade pumpkin muffins to me! Do you think you could send me some piano music? Maybe cool versions of some of your favorite hymns. If it’s too much trouble for this package, you can wait till the next one.

This last week was really enjoyable. On Friday, we decided to knock every Spanish door in our area. Most of the Hispanics all live in the same apartment complexes, or trailer parks. We have about four different apartment complexes, and three trailer parks that have Hispanics in our area. Each one is about 40% Hispanic. We had been having trouble finding new investigators. We usually get one answer out of every 15 doors we knock in this area. We started in our biggest Hispanic apartment complex, "Appartmentos Rojos." We were knocking and got about a fourth of the way through without an answer. Then finally we knocked one door. It looked like no one was home. To my surprise; after waiting a while, the door opened. Even more to my surprise we were invited in before we started contacting. We taught three Hispanics, named Doris, Clamensia, Antonio. At first none of them seemed really interested. After we were talking for a wile, Doris asked "are you Mormons?" We responded "Yes." Her eyes lit up. She told us that when she lived in Honduras, she attended a Mormon church there. She was way excited about everything we talked about after that. Saturday when we went by for our return appointment, she had invited two of her friends over. Yesterday their ride bailed on them, but this week will be general conference, so we will get them to church for sure. We have 4 chances.
I am so happy to be a missionary, and love you all so much.
