Running From Dogs and For Fun (Daniel March 28)

Hey family, How is it going today.

Mom asked me if I had started running. I actually have started. The weather has been pretty warm in the mornings. Two weeks ago the high was in the 90's all week long. I can't wait for next week when we don't have to wear our suit coats any more. This morning, We woke up to the sound of a lot of rain outside. I looked at Elder Bensen and asked him if he still wanted to run, and he said yes. We run 1.5 miles every day. Today, it was so cold. I think the air was in the 50's, but the rain was in the 30's. The air felt good, but the rain was cold. We were as wet as wet can be except for our backs. We ran fast enough that our backs stayed dry the whole time. Elder Bensen is one of the English Elders. He is cool. About three years ago, he ran a marathon. I don't remember which one, but it was one of the downhill ones. Elder Benson is 22, and has been in the mission for about a year.

Rebekah asked me to tell a funny story I had recently. I couldn’t really think of one, but I want to tell you about my most recent epic dog chase. It was your classic missionary dog chase story. I actually have a scar on my wrist left from it. We came up to knock a trailer with a fence going all the way around it. After we knock the door a couple times, a pit bull came around the corner of their trailer, who upon seeing us, started barking at us, and chasing after us. We started running, and realized we had closed the gate. The dog was getting close, so we didn't have time to open the gate, so we decided to jump the fence instead. It was a chain link fence, and the wires on the top of it had not been bent over. On my way past the fence, I caught my wrist on one of the thick metal wires. I got a deep three inch cut on my wrist. The dog was confused by the fact we jumped the fence, and ran head first into it. That happened about 4 months ago, and I still have a very visible scar to remind me of the story.

I love you all. Thanks for all the e-mails you have sent me.

Elder Finch.
