I got my new companion. His name is Elder Allen. He has been out just a little over a year. He seems really cool, and like a good missionary. I am excited for this companionship.
This week we found someone really cool named Arther. He is American. We were out proselyting in one of our areas that we don't go to often in the morning, and we kind of wandered away from the section we normally knock, ( the section where all the Hispanics live), when we saw him sitting at a park picnic table, with his pocket bible in front of him. We came over to him and started talking. He said that earlier that morning he prayed for a sign of where he could find peace, and were he could find the right way. He said he feels like he has lived a bad life, and wants to be a better example for his children. He had stopped drinking about two years ago. He still smokes and drinks coffee. He has been having some stomach problems. We told him his stomach problems were caused by the tannic acid in the coffee. Apparently Coffee and Tea slowly turn your stomach lining into leather. Coffee is also bad for the marrow in your bones. When we told him about this, he promised never to drink coffee again.
We are also teaching someone named Luis. He is going through a hard time right now, and is really humble. He met some of the members in our ward when they use to live in Mexico. Apparently they know each other pretty well. The members invited him to go to their house for dinner after church. I think it is really cool. We have been seeing a lot of miracles lately.
I am way excited to hear about Ambers engagement, and I want to let Amber know that it is the right decision not to wait for me to get home to get married. I knew you were going to get engaged for about a month now, and felt prompted that I should let you know you don't need to wait for me to come home to get married. After I get home, I will still be able t meet him, and I'm sure we will become friends.
I love you all.
