How to Learn Two Years of High School Spanish in 2 1/2 Weeks

Wasn't conference WONDERFUL!!! I loved it so so much! It was heartwarming to know that during those several hours we, and all the member's of the Lord's church were listening to Heavenly Father's guidance for His kingdom here on earth! What an incredible miraculous thing!

This week has been incredbile!

Spanish is coming along very well. My teacher (Hermano Fernadez actually, whom we'll get to later...) said that he absolutely considers me at the level of the rest of the class, even with their two years minumem experience. It's absolutely not any credit to myself, it's just Heavenly Father letting me know that if I am willing to put all my heart and time into His hands, He will use me in the very ways that will best bless everyone. I am so grateful for His aid in all aspects of my life. My testimony and understanding that every success I have is a blessing from my Father in Heaven has been growing stronger and stronger.

Last Friday evening we had our first experiece in the TRC. (In the TRC volunteers come in and pretend to investigadors as we get to know them and share a full lesson.) Last Friday, the investigator Hermana Clah and I had didn't really understand that he was supposed to play a part. He was just being himself (...and he didn't know Spanish, which was funny, because one of the purposes is to help us feel comfortable communicating in Spanish, but we had to use only English.) Anyway, it was INCERDIBLE!! We prayed fervantly before hand that we could commuinicate the things Heavenly Father wanted us to, to help the specific indvidual we were teaching. The lesson went very well. The Spirit really did give me exactly the words to share, Hermana Clah as well. During the closing prayer, I felt really prompted to give him a challange. I wasn't sure what to say, but couldn't contradict the Spirit and so I agreed to. After the prayer, as I opened my mouth, I literally felt like just a mouthpiece. The words just came right from the Spirit. It was incredible! It took me a few seconds afterward to overcome the powerful feelings and return to myself. I love being an instrument in God's hands. It's such a joy and so humbling. My love for my Heavenly Father and Savior grows every moment.

President Shumway's (my Branch President, from our Stake) twin sons came home from their missions on yesterday. When they speak in our ward there in Prove, I told them to say hello to my family, the one sitting on the second row. They are both very nice and I really enjoyed talking with them.

Every Tuesday the whole MTC gathers for a devotional. Hermana Clah had the opportunity to say the closing prayer this past Tuesday and so we sat on the stand during the meeting. As we watched the missionaries poor in (all 2,400 of them) I whispered to Hermana Clah, "Behold a Royal Army." I don't thing we comprehend all the power and authority that is here in the MTC on a regular basis. The promised blessings for missionaries are incredible. The authority to literally be a Representative of Jesus Christ is tremendous. I wear His name everywhere I go. As I sat looking out at this indeed Royal Army, I was in awe are the capabilities of this group. What a truly amazing experience and opportunity to serve a mission!

I realized something the other day. Up until that point, serving a mission was just another decision. Somehow it sunk into my heart that this is the very best choice I have ever made. Over the next year and a half I will be able to do more for myself, my family, the church, the world, and individual people then I would through any other means. I am so glad to be here. There is no better thing I could be doing right now and I feel so blessed!

We leave in four days!!!! WOW!!! That's so crazy! I am going to miss the Elders in my district a lot! It's funny how in just two and a half weeks, our whole district has become such good friends. This work really is inspired. We all have the same drive to do our very best, the same overwhelming charity for the people we will serve and the same sense of humor. We get along so well!

Thank you so very much for the letter and packages! My district has said a few prayers saying "Thank you for the marvelous Sister Finch and her amazing cooking!"

Ahh!!! Time's up, I love you all very much! Thank you for your prayers!

Love Rebekah
