Setting New Years resolutions was kind of interesting. I was thinking of some goals, like trying to get even more out of my morning studies and stuff, when I realized that you’re supposed to make resolutions for the whole year, which would mean I would need to make some goals for when I am home to, since I’m going home this year. I found it an interesting thought. I didn't set any goals for when I get home. I figure I can do that on the plane.
I am loving missionary work more than ever. I have found that the more I understand missionary work, the more I love it. Yesterday I decided to fast that I would better understand missionary work. The whole Careto family came to church except for Christina's boyfriend. I was sitting in the Spanish Gospel principles class when my stomach growled and reminded me that I was fasting, and what I was fasting about. I looked around the room and saw Serio Careto Teaching the class. He recently just got the calling to be the teacher. Then I saw Maria, Sergio's wife, listening, and looking at her Gospel Principles book. I also saw Dora and Oscar, two older Hispanics in the ward, and I realized that none of them were coming to church when I was first in this area, then I looked over at Enriqueta, Sergio's Mom, and realized, this was her first time at church. There was one other Hispanic in that room with us. She was visiting from a different ward, and I realized, if she came four months ago, there would have been no other Hispanics there with her, and she would not have had a class to go to. It was at this moment that I received the answer to my fast. Missionary work is all about Building up the Kingdome of God, specifically through conversion, reactivation, and retention. When I looked around the room, I noticed everyone was happy. As the Kingdome of God grows, it makes the soles within the Kingdom happy, including, and especially those that are responsible in helping the Kingdome expand.
That thought helped me feel better about all the work I have done this far on my mission, and has helped soften the pains from times when you see investigators stop progressing, like Solidad, or the Galindo family back in Green Wood, my second area, because I know as the Kingdome Grows, More of Heavenly Father’s Children will receive a chance to accept the Gospel, and many will receive second chances, or even third, And I know that a lot of the people that I have taught, that when they get a second, or third chance, They will remember me, and all of the things I have done to help them develop a testimony, and all of this will help them to eventually accept the gospel.
The Careto Family is progressing a lot. Enriqueta will most likely be baptized on the 15th of January.
Christina's boyfriend, Hido, has decided he wants to get married to Christina so she can get baptized. Christina’s Mom doesn’t like the church and doesn't even want her to get married by the church, But we are praying that her heart will be softened.
I know that the Lords work will keep progressing. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the one and only true church on the earth and that many, many people will accept the church, even after the Second Coming
I love you all and am praying for you
