Rebekah Wants To Teach Visually

Mom’s Letter To Rebekah: Anyway, I have purchased some items for you to use in your mission. They are books and things for you to give your investigators. I am not sure what items you can use and which ones aren't worth the money. They are all in spanish. I purchased a CD of the Book of Mormon. Do the investigators there have CD players? Or should I just take them back to the distribution center? I also purchased some Children's Songbook CD's. The principles of the gospel are explained so beautifully in the Primary songs. I thought your non-readers could appreciate that, if they have a CD player. Another option is I can purchase some cheap CD players and send them to you, one or two at time. I also purchased 10 gospel art picture books and 3 nursery manuals. The nursery manuals explain so simply and so sweetly the principles of the gospel with lots of pictures. I thought some of your families could use them for FHE and so forth. I also purchased the complete set of flannel board pictures from the church. I think you can use them for a variety of things. Visuals for lessons, or a handout for an investigator child. I think you can use your creativity to figure how to use them to teach the non-readers there. I also purchased 3 illustrated versions of the Book of Mormon that were written for children. It is in "comic book" form from the distribution center. You will recognize it when you see it. You could give those to members and they can look at the pictures while you tell the stories, then they can keep the books as a reminder of the lesson. I also am sending some various pictures. Fifty are of Christ with a Spanish explanation on the back. The others are various church themes including 3 of the Guatemala Temple, (not Quetzaltenango). I also have included various copies of the Liahona magazine, and a few special edition copies on Temples.

Should I send all of that stuff or concerning the cost of shipment, should I leave some of it here and just return it?

Rebekah’s Response: Wow. Thank you so much. I have been wishing so much I had all of those things. It's hard to get church supplies here. I know shipping is an arm and a leg, but these things can make an eternal difference in the lives of the poeple here. I was really wanting to ask for these things, but was hesitant because it is so expensive. A few CD players would be amazing, but two or three should be sufficient. You can find them here, but they cost about half of my money for everything the entire month, so they're not an option. I went to the mission office to see what supplies they have. They have sufficient Church videos. I asked for pictures if Christ and temples etc. and there are none. No Liahonas either. But, considering shipment costs...I would like the temple one, but a year subscription to Liahonas is really cheap here, only two dollars a year. So I can help my recent converts and investigators subscribe. Hermana McGaughy and I wished so much we had the children's Book of Mormon book. I know which it is, and that would be wonderful. Also, Book of Mormon on CD is another that could bless many lives, and the Primary CDs. I've started giving away mine. So many cannot read. I love the nursery book idea and am really thrilled by the idea of the flannels. Visuals make a huge difference here, especially with all the language barriers (Quiche, Mam, Spanish, illiteracy etc.) The pictures will be wonderful too! We have been cutting up old Liahonas to give our investigators pictures. This package would be the most wonderful in the world!
